Magda Productions is proud to present Menaka Thomas live in Brisbane, as she shares songs from her recently released debut album, “My Eyes Can See” on Saturday 26th October at the Holy Trinity Church Hall, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.
A few years ago, Menaka nearly lost her vision. She could barely tell the difference between a knife or fork, or decipher how many fingers were held in front of her face. This is where she found her music. In the long road to recovery, “My Eyes Can See” was born.
Menaka’s sound is a fusion of musical worlds. While she hails from a musical family deeply rooted in South Indian classical music, her exploration within the realms of song writing has endowed her with a unique sound, which intersects both traditional and contemporary, East and West.
Menaka recently released her album to a sold-out crowd at the Queensland Multicultural Centre in May, Again, she will be joined by a world-class line up of musicians, including Meg Burstow, Shayne Cook, Tsoof Baras, Evan Osborne and Megha Alex. This concert will also feature renowned Indian classical bansuri player, Darshil Shah.
The night promises to be one of soul-stirring music, narrative and human connection.
Dinner will be sold on the night by the Vedanta Centre, a not-for-profit community organisation. All proceeds of the dinner will go towards supporting the Vedanta Centre.
This is a child-friendly event. Children under 12 are admitted free of charge.
Ticket prices: $20 concession; $25 single adult
